Faculty workload (3345.45); annual performance of faculty (3345.452); and post-tenure review (3345.453) timelines are being developed. Work is occurring to implement these provisions. Faculty workload will require updates to the university’s current policy. Annual performance of faculty and post-tenure review include items that will be developed by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. More information will be provided about the implementation timeline as this work progresses.
SB 1 Implementation Timeline
SB 1 goes into effect on June 27, 2025 though a number of provisions in the bill have delayed effective dates. The implementation team has established a timeline for addressing aspects of the bill based on when they will become effective.
By June 27
Ohio State trustee terms (3335.02, 3335.09); statement of commitment (3345.0216); complaints and disciplinary sanctions (3345.0218); reporting guidelines (3345.0219); partnerships with China (3345.591); treatment of all faculty, staff and students (3345.88); striking prohibition (4117.14, 4117.15); and all other program, position and DEI-related activity changes and work must be completed.
