SB 1 Compliance

The SB 1 Implementation Committee is working with senior leadership and a range of stakeholders to develop clear guidance, timelines and action steps regarding SB1 compliance. This coordinated process will address the legislation’s various impacts on academic life and university operations and identify measures for the university and its units to take to implement each of the legislation’s requirements, including those related to policy. 

Members of the committee are leading workstreams to address the bill’s separate provisions and engaging students, faculty and staff from all campuses, colleges and units as well as University Senate. Due to the compressed timeline for implementation, the committee is also leveraging existing groups and committee structures for engagement and input with the implementation committee.

Various offices and university community groups are being engaged throughout the workstream process, and students, faculty and staff are engaged in multiple workstreams. Workstreams are also identifying core stakeholder groups. Faculty participating in these workstreams represent a variety of departments and disciplines across several colleges and academic centers. Some of the groups providing input through the workstreams include University Senate (through its faculty leaders and its Government Affairs committee); college and regional campus curricular and associate deans; the Research Security Governance Board; the university’s Faculty Ombuds; and the University Policy Review Committee, which includes representatives from all policy-owning offices, University Senate, the Wexner Medical Center and regional campuses. Faculty participating in these workstreams represent a variety of departments and disciplines across several colleges and academic centers. This engagement will continue to expand as implementation work continues.
